Church Hosts Toys for Tots, Carol Sing, Santa on Dec. 6
Members of the U.S. Marine Corps will be at Concord United Methodist Church in Concord, California on Saturday, December 6, as part of the "Toys for Tots" drive. A military Humvee, parked in front of the Sanctuary, will be the drop-off point for donations of new toys from 6 to 7 p.m.
Santa Claus will be at the church, as well, to meet children and pose for pictures.
The church's annual Carol Sing will begin at 7 p.m. and this year will feature the CUMC Community Orchestra, HouseBlend (an award winning quartet), and "Ladies First" from Concord High School, along with the singing of Christmas carols.
There also will be a presentation to the Marines on behalf of the children’s Sunday School. The children assembled snowman soup mugs that were sold after Sunday services as a community service project, "Gift Giving to Toys for Tots." The entire proceeds from the sale will go to purchase toys for "Toys for Tots."
Everyone is invited to Concord UMC on December 6 to meet the Marines, donate a new, unwrapped toy, visit Santa, and stay for the Carol Sing. It will be an evening of family fun, with lots of goodies to eat, in addition to seasonal music.
Concord UMC is located at 1645 West Street, Concord, CA 94521.
