Sierra Service Project (SSP) is offering young adults and mature youth the chance to serve in Honduras this summer in a cultural immersion program that provides great insight into one of the poorest countries in the Americas. It’s a great opportunity for young people who wish to learn more about the area and selflessly serve—and as an added incentive, those who sign up before mid-January will save $100!
Since 2003, SSP has sent groups to Honduras to build two simple—but safe, dry, and secure—brick homes per year. The volunteers, working alongside Honduran families and community members, have built 21 such homes in total.
SSP will send three teams to Honduras in the summer of 2009. Departure dates are June 21, July 8, and July 27, and each trip will be two weeks long. Participants must be high school juniors and seniors, or college-age young adults.
Cost is $2200 if you register before January 15, 2009, but $2300 after that date. This includes all costs, including airfare from Los Angeles. Limited financial assistance is available.
