The General Board of Discipleship has named the Rev. Lee Hayward of the California-Nevada Annual Conference to a three-person design team to create a coaching track for the United Methodist Church's Path 1 Initiative. The Initiative is charged with recruiting and training 650 new church planters, who are to start 1,000 new churches within the denomination in the next quadrennium.
The announcement was made by the Rev. Thomas Butcher, Director of Path 1 with the General Board in Nashville.
The coaching track will be implemented during the School for Congregational Development in Chicago next summer.
Hayward is currently appointed to an Extension Ministry of Leadership Development and Organizational Effectiveness. A Principal in the business consulting firm Hayward & Associates of San Jose, California, he coaches a number of clergy within the Conference, as well as the senior management team for NASA Mission Control and NASA Engineering at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
