SSP Reaches out to Korean UMCs

October 23, 2008

Sierra Service Project announces that Rev. Hayes Kang, Associate Pastor at Cho-Un Korean United Methodist Church in Citrus Heights, California, has temporarily joined its staff. His assignment is to do outreach to Korean churches, both United Methodist and members of other denominations.

Contact him at heiskang@yahoo.com or at the SSP office at 916-488-6441.

Rev. Hayes has translated the key information about SSP into Korean (including parts of the SSP website) and is available to speak with any interested church groups. To access this information in Korean, visit www.sierraserviceproject.org and click on the “Information in Korean” link.

(Rev. Hayes also participated in SSP in the summers of 2007 and 2008 with his youth group.)

SSP’s registration is now open for the summer of 2009. Senior high youth may choose from four Indian reservation sites, the SSP program in South Los Angeles, and its new border experience in Tijuana. The new junior high program will again take place on a Native American reservation.

The cutoff date for priority registration is November 15.
