“Welcome Home” Event for Bishop Brown at Taylor Memorial UMC

August 08, 2008

Retired Bishop Leontine T.C. Kelly will be guest speaker at a worship service and reception honoring Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr. and his family on their return to the California-Nevada Annual Conference – on Sunday, September 21 at 5 p.m. at Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church in Oakland, California.

The event is sponsored by the members of the Black Clergy, in conjunction with Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR), and everyone is cordially invited to attend. A spokesman for the organizers says, “We are hoping that you will make this event a memorable one for the Browns. We hope to see you there!”
Bishop Brown is returning to Cal-Nevada, from which he was elected to the Episcopacy, after heading the RockyMountain and Yellowstone Conferences: the largest United Methodist Episcopal area in the United States, from a geographic standpoint. He is accompanied by his wife, Minnie J. Brown. The couple has three children, Catina Marie Harvin, Warner Brown III, and Calvin Brown.
Taylor Memorial UMC is one of the churches Bishop Brown served as pastor. It is located at 1188 12th Street, Oakland, CA94607
