UMW Mission Education Events: Friday Schedule Change

August 07, 2008

There has been a change in the Friday schedule for two upcoming United Methodist Women Mission Education Events. Churches, please notify your congregations.

The corrected Friday schedule for both the Reno, Nevada event on the weekend of August 15-17 and the event in Santa Nella, California on the weekend of September 19-21 is:

          2-4 p.m.       Registration
4 p.m.          Opening Plenary and Communion
          5:30 p.m.     Dinner
          7 p.m.           First Class Session

Registration is closed for the Reno event but you may still register for the event in Santa Nella. This year’s focus is, “I Believe in Jesus,” “Israel and Palestine,” and “Native American Survival: Giving Our Hearts Away.”

At the Santa Nella event, a young women’s class will be offered for women 18–30, led by Rosa Washington Olson. Classes also will be conducted in Korean and in Spanish.

Although sponsored by United Methodist Women, all Mission Education Events are open to men as well. The UMW’s Connie Hunter says, “A few years ago, there was a young man attending the School.  Over lunch, I asked him the reasons he had come.  He told me that his mom had been going for years and she always returned home so charged up, so on fire, that he decided he had to come and see for himself what the School was all about.  He was having a great time.  There are usually a few men in attendance – this year we are hoping for many more.”
