Mary Elizabeth Inn Thanks Conference UMW

December 10, 2014

Dear California-Nevada United Methodist Women,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and residents of Mary Elizabeth Inn, I would like to thank you for the tremendous support to our organization as we celebrated our 100th anniversary this year.  We received both monetary and in-kind gifts, as well as the services of many volunteers.  Your financial support and attendance at our many celebratory events is greatly appreciated, and helped to make each event a success.  So far, a total of $21,000 has been received in sponsorships, tribute ads, and generous donations from the women’s units and congregations of local United Methodist Churches.

Founded in 1914 by Lizzie Glide, Mary Elizabeth Inn is a non-profit organization with a 100 year history of providing safe housing and crucial services to women in our community who are in need.  It is our mission to end the cycle of poverty and homelessness for women in the Bay Area by providing low income housing and supportive services. It is our vision that women across all life’s stages are empowered to achieve self-sufficiency, independence, and security.  Women served by Mary Elizabeth Inn include those who are homeless and low income, and many who are survivors of domestic violence.

We are honored to be among the National Missions Institutions of The United Methodist Women.  You are an important part of Mary Elizabeth Inn and we look forward to your continued support and friendship.
