Vacaville Church Awarded Grant to Assist Hard of Hearing

St. Paul'United Methodist Church in Vacaville, California has just received a $1,500 grant to purchase an Assisted Listening System.


The grant was awarded from the Health and Welfare Ministries Department, General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church and its Committee with Deaf, Late-Deafened, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind People's Ministries.


Church member Desiree Forde-Silva wrote the successful grant application. 


The Assisted Listening System will be named in honor of St. Paul's founding pastor, the Rev. Robert Walker and his late wife, Mardi Walker. Rev. Walker became deaf and blind late in life.


The Assisted Listening System will be installed by September 7, 2008, when Rev. Walker is scheduled to lead St. Paul's in worship and Communion.
