Insurance Company to Accept Hearing Aids on Behalf of Rotary Club

May 01, 2008

Berger & Jones Incorporated, the insurance plan administrator for the California-Nevada Annual Conference, has volunteered to take on the project of collecting donated hearing aids at this year's Annual Conference Session. Berger & Jones' Don Jones made the offer in response to an appeal in Instant Connection and said the hearing aids will be passed on to Rotary International for distribution.

St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Sacramento has taken on the eyeglasses collection project and will hand over the glasses to Kiwanis International. The California-Nevada Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) Office will collect and process the cell phones that are donated

It has been a longstanding tradition that donated eye glasses and hearing aids – and, more recently, cell phones – are dropped off at Annual Conference Session to be given to organizations that get them into the hands of people who need them.

UMVIM Director Sue King, who issued the appeal for individuals and organizations to come forward to help with the project, expressed her gratification at the willingness of Berger & Jones and St. Mark's UMC to partner with UMVIM in this important ministry.
