I-5 Work to Cause Travel Delays During Annual Conference Session

April 25, 2008

Caltrans has announced a tentative work schedule for the I-5 "Boat Section" repair project that coincides with Annual Conference Session June 17-21, and is telling downtown office employees that the commute time may be up to two-and-a-half hours.

Stage 2 of the project is scheduled to begin Friday, June 13 at 8 p.m. and end Sunday, June 22. It will involve the closure of all southbound lanes of I-5 from Richards Boulevard to U.S. Highway 50 – with the exception of two lanes that will remain open for traffic exiting at "J" Street.

The construction delays may necessitate changes in travel plans for some people attending ACS. If you have planned to commute to the Sacramento Convention Center, please map your route and consider whether it would be wiser to book reservations at an area hotel instead. If you still want to commute but your travel will be affected by the I-5 construction delays, please plan accordingly.
