Case Manager Supervisor and Construction Project Manager Positions Open in Fernley, Nevada

April 10, 2008

"Case management and construction volunteers are the heart of Disaster Recovery," says California-Nevada Volunteers in Mission Director and Disaster Response Coordinator Sue King. "The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) specializes in supporting case management in a disaster. United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) provides construction volunteers to help rebuild the homes and hope of families whose lives have been shaken by the disaster."

In Fernley, Nevada the California-Nevada Conference of The United Methodist church has been working as a member of the Long-term Recovery Committee on providing disaster training, grant writing, and meeting the most urgent of needs of residents impacted by the flood of January 5, 2008.

A case management supervisor is required to help the most vulnerable families with their long-term recovery and reconstruction of homes. The case manager will direct the work of volunteer case workers and advocate for the needs of the flooded residents, connecting them with construction teams, replacement furniture and appliances, and mental health services to help with stress and trauma related to the disaster.

One or two volunteer construction project managers are needed to coordinate the reconstruction of flood damaged homes by volunteer workers. The construction project manager will work closely with the case management supervisor to supervise the delivery of services to the most needy clients first.
