SMART Marriages® Conference set for July 2-5

April 03, 2008

The 12th Annual SMART Marriages® Conference has been scheduled for July 2-5, 2008 in San Francisco – and the Northern California United Methodist Healthy Marriage Project wants the California-Nevada Conference to be well represented. UM pastors and other leaders are urged to participate.

More than 2,000 people will be in attendance: pastors, lay leaders, therapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists, professors, attorneys – and just a lot of "real people" interested in saving marriages and families. There will be more than 140 workshops available, with presenters such as Gary Chapman (author of The Five Love Languages), Terry Hargrave, John Van Epp (author of How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk), and Claudia and David Arp.

Keynote speakers include Julie Baumgardner, Executive Director of the grassroots organization First Things First, which is dedicated to strengthening marriages and families; Gary Chapman; John Gray, author of the Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus series; Pat Love, co-founder of the Austin Family Institute; John Van Epp; and Dennis Stoica, President of the California Healthy Marriages Coalition.

The SMART Marriages® Conference is also unique in offering training and certification to teach dozens of programs.

A Cal-Nevada group is in the formation stages. If you and/or your church would like to be involved contact Glenn and Gwen Tilton of the Healthy Marriage Project at (916) 393-6479, gtilton2@comcast.net.
