Condition of wounded East Timor Nobel laureate

February 14, 2008

In troubled East Timor, the condition of Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta remains grave. Ramos-Horta, a friend and longtime supporter of The United Methodist Church’s East Timor Religious Outreach ministry, was shot three times in a failed assassination attempt this past Sunday (February 10). He is now in Darwin on a ventilator and is expected to undergo another round of surgery tomorrow (Saturday February 16). Link here for more information. Your prayers are requested.
