New free online Connectional Giving course

United Methodist Communications is pleased to announce the launch of a new online course, “Turning Connectional Living into Connectional Giving.” This four-part, self-directed course with facilitation is designed to help members of The United Methodist Church to understand and interpret our connectional giving through the Apportioned and Designated funds of the church. Each module of the online course includes interactive features such as audio and video clips, quizzes, links to more information, a personal online journal, Flash animation and discussion forums.

 

Registration for this free online course is now open for the January 9-February 20, 2008 session. To register, follow these instructions:

 

  1. Go to http://moodle.umcom.org.
  2. Under “United Methodist Basics,” select “Turning Connectional Living into Connectional Giving.”
  3. If you have previously set up an online learning account using your email address (username) and a password of your choosing, enter these on the left side of the log-in page. You will immediately be enrolled in the course and redirected to the course’s home page. Skip to #9 below.
  4. If this is your first time registering at the Online Learning Center, follow the instructions on the right side of the log-in page and select the “click here to register” link.
  5. Enter your email address and a password of your choosing. Select “Turning Connectional Living into Connectional Giving” from the list of available courses, and click “submit.”
  6. You will be asked to complete a simple registration form, re-entering your password in addition to some other basic information. Then click “submit.”
  7. You will immediately be enrolled in the course and redirected to the course’s home page.
  8. If this is your first time taking an online course using Moodle, begin with the “How to Use Moodle” book under the “Welcome” section.
  9. To begin the course, select the “Introduction” link next to the book icon under the “Welcome” section.
