Chance to 'Deck the Halls, Katrina Recovery-style'

December 05, 2007

By Robert Sharp

Coordinator, Mississippi UM Katrina Recovery

Grace and peace to all our dear friends across the country. As I look at the progress we’ve made over the past two years I am humbled by your devotion to our recovery. You have shared our sorrows and our joys, our trials and triumphs and have been a true source of strength for our recovery. You understand the magnitude of our despair and continue to come to Mississippi, bringing us hope. Together, we make a great long-term recovery team.

As we have visited your communities we often hear from folks who are not able to come to the Gulf Coast but would like to help, even if in a small way. Did you know that a $20 donation would buy a lock for the door of a home – $50, ten sheets of sheetrock?

In the spirit of the Christmas season, we are offering an opportunity for you to help us “deck the halls” Katrina Recovery-style. Below you will find a list of items needed to build a home from the ground up or to repair one that has been gutted. This gives you an idea of how your contribution is used to heal hearts and homes in Mississippi.
