Registration underway for chaplains' retreats

The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church invites endorsed/approved chaplains and pastoral counselors, and their spouses, to two upcoming retreats.

The Texas Retreat will take place Mon. Sept. 17-Wed. Sept. 19 at the Sheraton Arlington, 1500 Convention Center Drive, Arlington, Texas.

Dr. W. Victor Maloy will lead participants in the theme “Healing and Wholeness: Self Care and the Pursuit of Spiritual Maturity.”

GBHEM will cover registration, hotel accommodations and meals for endorsed/approved chaplains, pastoral counselors and spouses. The cost to retirees and their spouses is $120 per person. All participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.

The Lake Junaluska Retreat will take place Monday, October 29 to Thursday, November 1 at The Terrace, Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center, North Carolina.

Dr. William B. Lawrence, Dean and Professor of American Church History at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology will be the retreat leader. The theme will be “Ministry Without Boundaries: Rediscovering the World as Our Parish.”

GBHEM will cover lodging, meals and registration for active/approved chaplains and their spouses. The registration fee for retirees and their spouses will be $180. Checks should be made payable to GBHEM.

Registration deadline for the Lake Junaluska Retreat is October 15.
