April 11, 2007

United Methodist church historians from around the Western Jurisdiction will gather in Sacramento April 26-29 for the Western Jurisdiction Commission on Archives and History annual meeting.

The event will take place at the Conference Center in West Sacramento.

The Theme, “The Unfinished Historian – Conserving the Old/Pioneering the New,” will include a visit to several pioneer churches to learn how congregations are taking care of their church history. Connection editor Chuck Myer will offer a look at the life of Charles Wesley to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Wesley’s birth.

Robert Williams, the new General Secretary of the General Commission, will present the story of how Methodists responded to young Asian women arriving at Angel Island in San Francisco. The cost of the event is $130 per person. To register link to Archives and History Annual Meeting.
