Beautiful Earth, Sacred Earth: an Earth Day celebration
On April 22,
Afternoon events will feature a complementary soup luncheon, followed by the first of three big-screen, multimedia presentations in the church sanctuary. There will be a showing of a special John Muir feature, Yosemite: the Range of Light, along with presentations created by retired Cal-Nevada United Methodist pastor Don Baldwin. Rev. Rev. Baldwin served as the Resident Minister at
Kilowatt Hours and Too Hot to Handle will be shown at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. These films address global climate change and what we can do about it. There also will be displays from local environmental groups, ideas for action, and refreshments.
These events are being offered free of charge, as they are being underwritten by Earth Justice Ministries (www.earth-justice.org), an ecumenical organization dedicated to bringing the resources of faith to bear on the pressing peace, justice, and environmental issues of our day. The Conference Board of Church and Society has helped to make such events possible through its program of Ecumenical Agency Grants.
