New missionary to oversee Korean ministries
NEW YORK (UMNS) — A Korean missionary among 15 new United Methodists missionaries, who will be commissioned Friday, Oct. 11, has a unique assignment to the Koreans and Korean-Americans in The United Methodist Church. The Rev. Han Sung Kim, a full member of New England Annual (regional) Conference and a 2010 Harry Denman Evangelism Award recipient, will be the Korean Ministry Plan Missionary with the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries. He will direct programs of three key groups in the Korean United Methodist Church: Korean Association of The United Methodist Church, the 1,000 Churches Campaign and the Korean Ministry Plan. This position is the result of 40 years of efforts and has as its main aim the cultivation of vital congregations in the Korean community.
