Pumpkin Patch at Wesley Bakersfield

November 05, 2014

Wesley UMC Bakersfield is one of the church's that works with the Hamby family. It is the church's largest fundraiser and a way to reach children and families and invite them to Wesley. They hosted a family fun day that was attended by Bishop Brown and the Rev. Debra Brady, district superintendent for the Central Valley District Superintendent. They welcomed over 700 people, children and families to their campus where they had face painting, crafts, a petting zoo, bounce house, free popcorn, and lemonade. Stella Rous (pictured) read to a group of first grade children from Horace Mann Elementary School. The students walked to the patch from school and volunteers read them Halloween themed stories, they picked out pumpkins, and received goody bags made up with pencils, stickers and a piece of candy. They welcomed 157 children to the patch.
