Dr. Lisa Allen to Lead Worship at ACS This Year

The Rev. Dr. Lisa Allen, assistant professor of worship and music at Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, has been named worship planner and leader for the 2016 California-Nevada Annual Conference Session.
 
She is an elder in the North Georgia Annual Conference. Prior to joining the faculty at ITC in 2005, where she teaches courses on Christian music and worship, Dr. Allen was an associate pastor of worship and evangelism at a local United Methodist Church.
 
She also was a member of the General Board of Discipleship's Africana Hymnal Study Committee, and is the author of "In the Spirit: Worship in the African-American Tradition," in the Companion to the Africana Worship Book. Dr. Allen has a special interest in African American spirituality, worship and liturgy, and womanist theology.
 
Other publications include "Liturgy, Justice, and the Future of the Black Church" in The Journal of the Interdenominational Theological Center.
