March 10, 2016
A California-Nevada Conference grant from the Conference Disaster Fund has provided a trailer in Mountain Ranch Park to aid in the Butte Fire response. One of the services taking place in the trailer is crisis counseling for fire survivors. The trailer also as the long term recovery center providing case management and other needed services to the community. The trailer has three rooms, for an office, counseling and small group/ committee meetings. The Conference applied for, and received, a grant from the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR). The grant enables funding for a two-year recovery project in both Lake and Calaveras Counties, with the goal of helping residents to accomplish self-sufficiency and permanent housing. UMCOR and Conference Disaster Funds will fund three case managers, and $100,000 will be used for direct services and unmet needs identified through case management.
