“We are extremely excited about hosting LCI and clergy, staff, and lay that will come as teams to experience the best of building a continuum for multi-generational ministry. Our prayer is that our time together will energize and inspire all attenders to return back to their local church with that same excitement knowing that they will be planning with cultural relevance and effectiveness for what all generations are hoping to experience, being the Body of Christ together,” said the Rev. Steve Wood, Lead Pastor at Mount Pisgah United Methodist. “From the keynote and workshop presenters to the worship, God has assembled some of the best and most effective to lead us, instruct us, and inspire us to go home with trust and assurance that we answer well the call and challenge before us.”
Confirmed keynote speakers include Mark Batterson, Lead Pastor of National Community Church, Washington, DC; Chip Ingram, Senior Pastor of Venture Christian Church, Los Gatos, CA; Jorge Acevedo, Lead Pastor, Grace Church, Fort Myers, FL; and Dr. Timothy Tennent, President of Asbury Theological Seminary. More than 20 workshops will cover topics including The World in My Parish, Growing by Going, Sustainable Family Mission, Leading Formational Small Groups -- and more.
The conference also provides two nights of inspiring worship with guest artists Natalie Grant, One Sonic Society, and The Nelons.
The United Methodist Large Church Initiative is designed to serve churches with 1,000 or more members and/or with an average attendance of 350 or more in worship. The Initiative is designed to provide opportunities for pastors, staff and congregational leaders to exchange ideas, learn new leadership skills, develop new ideas through discussion, study and networking, and work together to accomplish common goals.
The Large Church Initiative is sponsored jointly by the General Board of Discipleship and the LCI Steering Committee, chaired by the Rev. Dr. Timothy Walker of Midland, TX. The annual LCI conference is hosted each year by a different church to provide an arena for networking, sharing ideas, and giving and receiving encouragement and support for ministry.
