4th Annual "Movin' For the Movement" Basketball Tournament

On September 13 at Alameda Point Gym, the California-Nevada Philippine Solidarity Task Force (PSTF) is hosting its 4th Annual "Movin' For the Movement" co-ed basketball tournament and Pastoral and Solidarity Visit to the Philippines report back. This past July, the California-Nevada PSTF sent delegates on their annual Pastoral and Solidarity Visit in collaboration with their partners in the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP). The eight-member delegation, led by the Rev. Jeanelle N. Ablola, included Evan Azzam, Junell Ancheta, Joan Ancheta, Jane Ancheta, Jordan Ilagan, Nicole Salde-Azzam, and Kira Salde-Azzam. Through the trip, the delegates were exposed to testimonies from families that lost members to extra-judicial killings, political prisoners, and grassroots community organizations in the Philippines. The delegates were also able to immerse with local communities in Leyte, Samar, and Iloilo, which are still rebuilding after the devastating Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda that hit the region in November. The tournament is co-ed, ages 12 and up are able to play. Food will be provided to spectators and players as well.
