Change the World Sunday Attracts More Than 100 Volunteers

June 12, 2014

Saint Paul United Methodist Church, Fremont, celebrated "Change the World" Sunday on May 18.  More than 100 church members and friends volunteered in six different activities.  Three were conducted inside the church building, and three sent volunteers into the Fremont community.
Sixty-Three United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) kits, both birthing and health kits (organized by the United Methodist Women), were packed and will be sent to UMCOR West in Salt Lake City. Rice and beans (100 pounds each) were packed into quart-sized bags. Ten musically inclined persons volunteered to travel and sing at a community health care facility. Over 25 hand-crafted notes were written and sent to missionaries and deaconesses. Twenty-eight volunteers grabbed trash bags, gloves, and long-handled grippers and walked onto the Alameda Creek pathways, park, and neighboring mosque clearing trash and debris. A few volunteers made physical repairs to one of the Saint Paul member's home.
