Church Hosts Screening of “The Organic Life” to Benefit Daily Acts

May 12, 2014

Windsor, CA – As part of the Daily Acts Community Resilience Challenge weekend, Windsor Community United Methodist Church is hosting a public screening of The Organic Life, local filmmaker Casey Beck’s documentary on the joys and challenges of work on an organic farm in Sonoma County.  The screening will take place on Sunday, May 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share, and a freewill offering will be taken to benefit Daily Acts.  No RSVP is required and all are invited to attend.

Beck will be on hand to answer questions about the film, as will representatives of Daily Acts and other special guests.

“In the spirit of the Daily Acts mantra of ‘saving water, growing food, conserving energy and building community,’ we are hosting this event to celebrate the good work that so many of our neighbors are doing to make this a healthier, more sustainable world,” says Pastor Laurie McHugh.  “After a long weekend of sheet mulching, gardening and other conservation actions, this potluck event will be an opportunity to relax, make friends, and learn together.”

The church is located across the street from Windsor Middle School at 9451 Brooks Rd South.  For more information about the film and to watch a trailer, visit www.theorganiclifemovie.com.  For more on Daily Acts and the Community Resilience Challenge, visit www.dailyacts.org.  For more on the screening event, email pastorlaurieumc@gmail.com or call the church office at (707) 838-6898.
