Alum Rock United Methodist Church (ARUMC) in partnership with local Non-Profit hosts the San Jose Hispanic community celebration, Fiesta Del Pueblo.

Alum Rock United Methodist Church (ARUMC) in partnership with The Foundation for Housing Equity (FHE), a community non-profit, will host the San Jose Hispanic community celebration, Fiesta Del Pueblo. FHE, for many years, organizers of the official San Jose Cinco De Mayo Parade and Fiesta Del Pueblo celebration were held together in May. And this year May 10th recognized in Mexico officially as Mother’s Day, is the Fiesta Del Pueblo Celebration at Alum Rock United Methodist Church. The Foundation for Housing Equity (FHE), works with underserved families and individuals in our local community with education of community resource assistance and a youth enrichment program, and Leaders of The Future. ARUMC and FHE is collaborating to host the Fiesta Del Pueblo (Town Festival) and Parade that is part of the church’s calendar, bringing families to a safe and joyful place to celebrate the Mexican history of Cinco De Mayo! The event will bring the community together for a walking parade, folkloric dance, music from Mexico, great food, resource tables, arts & crafts and activities for children on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Other collaborations outreach events this year include the annual Santa’s Toys for Tots toy giveaway, Thanksgiving Dinner & Turkey Give- away for at risk families, and ARUMC Trunk or Treat, a Halloween alternative children’s celebration. This partnership of ARUMC and FHE is in its third year of community collaboration. FHE brings outside community volunteer networks to participate with ARUMC volunteers together supporting outreach efforts into our immediate community. From these efforts Alum Rock have sponsored Leaders of The Future summer youth project, adopted a family and baptized three youth.
