Sierra Service Project

SSP has provided life-changing service experiences for young people since 1975 in which young people learn first-hand the joys of Christian service to others.  Youth spend their days doing challenging service work, like repairing homes, and spend evenings in worship, discussion and recreation.

Sierra Service Project is the United Methodist alternative for challenging, well-run and exciting service experiences for your high school and junior high youth groups.  Each year, nearly 700 youth and adult chaperons from the California-Nevada Conference participate in one of our programs.

At SSP, we believe that the primary focus of youth ministry is within the local church, where dedicated adults have lasting, year-round relationships with their youth.  SSP provides an intensive experience of service for you and your youth which will bond them together, advance them in their faith journey, and will create lasting excitement and energy for your youth ministry.

SSP currently offers w
eek long service experiences for senior high and junior high youth groups during the summer. Projects take place on Indian reservations, in South Los Angeles and in Tijuana, Mexico. Also offered are two-week long immersion experiences in Honduras for mature individual teens and young adults, as well as an Alternative Spring Break experience for young adult and high school groups.
