Established in 2001 by the Rev. Canon Sally G. Bingham, CIPL is a faith-based organization devoted to energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy. Their ministry is to educate congregations on the theological basis for eco-stewardship and assist in the implementation of programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Call to Action

submitted by
The Rev. Canon Sally G. Bingham

Dear California-Nevada United Methodists:

We need your help today. Please stand in solidarity with the faith community and ask for green jobs and a cap on carbon emissions. Time is running out for us to have our message heard.

The Senate has announced that by the end of this month (September 2009), they will introduce their version of a clean energy and climate bill. That means the clock is ticking to make sure your senator knows the faith community supports strong legislation on this issue. You may have read about the recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, finding that the majority of Americans approve of the president's energy policies. Now we need to get the point across to Washington. Take a stand with me, as you have in the past, showing that you care about the impact of global warming on God's creation and the most vulnerable communities around the world, who have polluted the least. Tell the Senate how important it is that they get this legislation right!

Urge your senator to support a strong clean energy and climate bill.

Keep the faith,
The Rev. Canon Sally G. Bingham
