Treasurer's Notes
3/3/10
March is budgeting season here in the Conference Treasurer's office. If you represent a conference board or agency, please make sure you have submitted your 2011/2012 budget request to me or to Linda Wiberg for Council on Ministry agencies. CFA is going to take a stab at proposing a two year budget (2011 and 2012) with an eye towards perhaps moving toward a quadrenial budget next year.
Thank you pastors and churches for getting your year-end reports done. I'd enjoy hearing your feedback about the online process.
Church treasurers should be done issuing W-2's and 1099's, and now it is time for all of us to do our taxes. Pastors, I can help a little, but you may want to get your own tax preparer. Be sure to find someone who understands the very unique aspects of clergy taxes.
I am also gearing up for the audits of three conference corporations (Board of Missions, Board of Camping & Retreat Ministries, Board of Trustees) and the unincorporated Council on Finance and Administration. I hope churches and extension societies are also making plans for their 2009 audits. I'd appreciate receiving copies of the extension society audits.
I hope you have a blessed Lenten season.
Older notes:
The IRS has announced that the standard business mileage rate will decrease to 50 cents per mile for 2010. The 2009 rate was 55 cents per mile. The volunteer rate will remain at 14 cents per mile.
If you are wondering about your church's 2010 apportionment figures or how they are derived, you will want to review the two documents below:(Click on the words below to access the file)
