Teams Needed In
Alaska with Construction Experience To Aid With Ice Flooding Recovery

There is an URGENT NEED for large volunteer construction teams in Alaska.  Recent ice flooding along the Yukon River has hit 40 villages.  Ice blocks wiped out whole neighborhoods.  Now the damaged and destroyed homes need to be re-built and repaired quickly before winter.

3 villages in most urgent need are near the Alaska/Canadian border. This is a Nation-wide response from UMVIM, other organizations and denominations, but more help is needed.

The locals live mostly on what they hunt and gather so they cannot be heavily involved in the construction efforts - they have to prepare for the coming winter season.Teams can fly into Anchorage or Fairbanks with ground transportation, food and lodging on site provided.Only LOG HOMES are to be built.  People with construction experience are needed most.  No youth teams. To volunteer please contact the Ca-Nv UMVIM Office at umvim@calnevumc.org  or 916-374-1582.
