Registration Opens for 'Leading for Vitality and Transformation' Workshop
Doug Anderson leading a 2011 training in the California-Nevada Annual Conference, at Foothills UMC in Cameron Park.
By the Rev. Greg Bergquist
CA-NV Conference Superintendent for Leadership Development
Leadership is a lifelong process of recognizing what is valuable and worth keeping in one's context, adapting to the changes that must be made to encourage vitality and growth, scanning for new challenges (and then improvising responsibly in response to these challenges), orienting one's values and principles in the real world, and accepting that change and transformation requires loss as well as gain. This fall, through a two-day workshop led by the Rev. Doug Anderson, we will continue this lifelong process of learning by taking an honest look at ministry in the 21st century, and the challenges we confront as a faith tradition seeking to reclaim our vitality in the wider communities we are called to serve.
The "Leading for Vitality and Transformation" workshop will be offered Mon. Oct. 22-Tues. Oct. 23 at the United Methodist Center in West Sacramento. It is recommended for pastors, ministry teams, and lay leaders.
Seminar leader Doug Anderson is the executive director of the Bishop Rueben Job Center for Leadership Development, a ministry of the North Central Jurisdiction and Dakota Wesleyan University. The mission of the Bishop Rueben Job Center is to provide quality training, resourcing, and networking for clergy and lay leaders in the area of Christian leadership development, concentrating on key ministry areas and key transitions in ministry. This includes updated theory, practical skills, and spiritual growth for continual learning and development.
$65 registration fee includes lunch and dinner on Monday and lunch on Tuesday.
