Director of Children and Youth Ministries (Evergreen Valley United Methodist Church) We seek a person who will generate new ideas and programs and who values a team concept of ministry. Candidate must possess excellent organizational, communication, teaching, administrative and computer skills. A college degree (BA or BS) and background in education or youth/children ministry is preferable but not required. Candidate must pass a background check upon hiring. Two personal and two professional references are required. Qualifications: EVUMC seeks a person who is spiritually mature, has a solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith, and who has a strong desire to nurture children and youth in the Christian faith. The DCYM should exhibit Christ-focused character and conduct in relationships. ?He or she must understand and maintain appropriate confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. ?Most importantly, he or she must be kind, caring, and supportive of youth ? Commitment: The DCYM position requires flexible hours including every Sunday, as well as some evening and weekend activities. The position is part time and at an estimated 20 hours per week. The actual number of hours required during any given week may vary at different times of the year. Sunday morning availability is required. Responsible to: Pastor for day-to-day supervision and Staff Parish Relations Committee for job description, pay review and ultimate evaluation of performance. Position Overview: The Director of Children and Youth Ministries shall develop and oversee the Christian Education Program for Children and Youth, which includes the weekly Sunday School program for nursery/children/youth, future weekly youth programs, and special events. The DCYM shall be a visual representative and advocate for children and youth programming, helping to strengthen the relationship between our nursery, children, youth and congregation. The DCYM shall seek to foster a strong education program through building relationships with teachers, students, parents and church leaders that help our children and youth grow in their faith in Jesus Christ and strengthen their commitment to the church. Primary Responsibilities~ * Plan, lead, and coordinate the weekly Sunday School and Youth Ministry Program to ?include fellowship, mission, worship, and growth in discipleship. The Youth Ministry program should take into consideration the differing needs of middle and high school students. ? * Increase number of Sunday School attendees through outreach and community events to attract new families to EVUMC and foster participation in current families. * Recruit, train, and support teachers and leaders for Sunday School and other Christian Educational and Formation ministries. * Research, present, and order curriculum to Pastor and Sunday School staff. ?
