Peace With Justice Sunday is May 22
Rev Sandy Gess of Park Presidio UMC-San Francisco receives on behalf of the congregation the Certificate of Recognition from Assemblymember David Chiu, 17th Assembly District (Assistant Speaker pro Tempore), for honoring victims of AIDS at a week of community events in remembrance of HIV/AIDS and looking forward for World AIDS Day . In the background is a four-panel block from the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. The Certificate reads: "This certificate is presented to Park Presidio United Methodist Church in recognition of your commitment to the lasting health of San Francisco and its most vulnerable communities. The Peace with Justice Sunday offering supports programs that advocate peace, justice and advocacy at home, and around the world. Half of this Special Sunday offering is retained in the California-Nevada Conference, and half is remitted to the General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) to help fund U.S. and global ministries. Gifts in support of this Special Sunday have provided funding for the following ministries in California-Nevada: First UMC of Salinas, “Safe Grounds- Daytime Shelter; Truckee UMC, “Cold Weather Emergency Warming Center “; Pioneer, Newcastle and Loomis UMC’s , “Placer Champions of Change”, lifting working families out of poverty and into sustainable living that supports their wellbeing.
