Cal-Nevada UMCs Fight Diseases of Poverty Through Health kits for Haiti
The goal was to put together 1,000 health kits for Haiti – in one hour. And on March 20, 2010, members of Pioneer United Methodist Church in Auburn, California actually did it!
The "Pack-o-Rama" drew parents and their children, Girl Scouts, youths, and seniors to work together from 10 to 11 a.m. on that Saturday. The 1,000 health kits they created and packaged were joined by 153 kits collected from Grass Valley, Napa and Lincoln churches – and all were added to a shipment of kits from Carson City, Sparks, and Lake Tahoe, being driven to the UMCOR West Depot in Salt Lake City by Fred and Shirley Suwe of Carson City UMC. Meanwhile, Campbell UMC has undertaken the mission of collecting another 1,000 health kits for Haiti!
