The Cal Aggie Christian House at the University of California Davis is now hiring a new Community Coordinator
Cal Aggie Christian Association Campus Ministry (CA House), the progressive Christian ministry at the University of California, Davis is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Community Coordinator. At CA House, students find a supportive community where they can feel free to engage in open discussion of questions of faith, vocation, and issues of social justice. Based on its strong commitment to Christian principles of love for God and for others, the ministry has grown to include programs like the Multifaith Living Community (MLC) that further students’ commitment to their own faith while learning to live in a society comprising increasing religious diversity.
The Community Coordinator is part of a ministry team. Specifically, under the supervision of the Campus Minister/Executive Director, the Community Coordinator has responsibilities in three main ministries: community building, program development and overseeing the MLC housing, which includes marketing and student occupancy. Community building tasks include: retreat planning, incorporation of new students into all CA House programs with an emphasis on the weekly MLC dinner and program. Program development responsibilities include: oversight of the three student interns, coordinating the meal preparation for both Christian Worship and MLC weekly dinner, developing, in collaboration with the Campus Minister and student interns, MLC weekly programs and community wide programs, and working with UC Davis Student Housing to offer programs in the residence halls. Managing MLC housing entails: keeping all documents related to student housing update-to-date, recruiting new students to live in the MLC, and generally marketing of the MLC.
Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree and a year of post baccalaureate work experience, preferably in a position associated with one of CA House’s supporting denominations: the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Church of Christ. Interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to facilitate small groups is a must. The ideal candidate will have:
· Experience either as a student or staff member in campus ministry,
· Some academic work related to religious studies,
· Some experience with Microsoft Access and Publisher,
· An understanding of the boundary issues involved in ministry,
· The ability to balance relational and administrative roles, and
· Life skills including basic home maintenance and cooking.
We want to fill this position as soon as possible. The position will remain open until filled. This is an exempt position and while the Community Coordinator generally works 40 hours a week, at times the Community Coordinator will require longer hours. Hours vary throughout the week depending on the program needs. For example, two of the main CA House programs meet in the evening. Salary $35,360 plus health benefits.
