Pick Up Choir at ACS
Lay and clergy members to the Annual Conference Session (ACS), as well as spouses and guests, are welcome to join this year's "pick up" choir during ACS. The choir will rehearse on Wednesday evening at 8:15 p.m., and Thursday afternoon at 12:45 p.m., and will perform Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu from Requiem at Thursday's Memorial Service, and an anthem version of Testify to Love (the theme song for ACS this year) at Friday's Ordination Service. Persons who wish to participate are strongly encouraged to contact the Rev. Laurie McHugh at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will send you a PDF file of the theme song music for you to print, mark with an assigned number, to bring with you to the Conference. In addition to the two rehearsed numbers, anyone who would like to join a mass choir at the end of the Ordination service to sing the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah (in the language of their choice) is welcome to bring their own copy of the sheet music, and to attend a brief rehearsal on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Persons do not need to attend the Wednesday rehearsal to participate in the Hallelujah Chorus sing-along. Pie Jesu and Testify to Love will be directed by Eileen Johnson of First UMC of Point Richmond. The Hallelujah Chorus will be directed by Sili Latu of Laurel UMC of Oakland. Participants are requested to wear black and/or white for the performances at Thursday's memorial service and Friday's ordination.
